Morgan Hill, California -

OEA
International, Inc. (OEA), the industry leader in 3D interconnect
extraction, and Applied Wave Research Inc. (AWR), a leading provider of
high-frequency electronic design automation (EDA) tools, today announced a
technology licensing agreement that enables AWR to integrate OEA's SPIRAL[TM]
3D inductor synthesis software into its Analog Office 2004 high-frequency
EDA design environment. Through this Agreement, AWR will market the
integrated OEA SPIRAL through its worldwide distribution channels.
"Designing
advanced inductors has traditionally presented a significant challenge for
designers. The integration of OEA's unique inductor generator and modeling
technology into AWR's unified RF design flow enables analog and RFIC
designers to accurately and quickly synthesize, analyze, and optimize a wide
range of inductors, including baluns, differential inductors, and
transformers," said James Spoto, president and CEO of AWR. "This will
eliminate the time-consuming and error-prone sequential design steps and
reworks that currently exist in today's analog and RFIC design flows. "This
tightly integrated solution delivers an unprecedented level of accuracy and
performance in RFIC design that significantly increases designer
productivity and speeds time to market."
"Foundry
libraries offer only a limited number of spiral inductors which will not
exactly match the design needs, with SPIRAL they can quickly synthesize an
exact match to their need and at an optimized quality factor," said Ersed
Akcasu, president and CEO of OEA. "Integration with AWR's industry-leading
analog and RF design environment will give analog and RFIC customers working
on wireless IC designs access to the most automated and accurate inductor
technology available in the industry.
